A development programme, between Turner Designs Inc and the VideoRay Corporation, has seen the Turner C3 three channel submersible fluorometer (as specified by the US Coast Guard in the SMART protocol for detecting the presence of oil) integrated to the Pro 4 VideoRay ROV. The initiative responded to the rapidly growing demand for portable and adaptable methods to measure water quality and oil spills, particularly in sensitive marine habitats.
The submersible C3 has an extensive range of optical sensors including Crude Oil, Refined Fuels, CDOM, in vivo Chlorophyll a, blue green Algae, Rhodamine WT dye, Fluorescein dye, Turbidity and Optical Brighteners. This range is in addition to Temperature and Depth (optional).
The VideoRay Pro 4 is a portable ROV system used extensively by researchers, monitoring authorities, security organisations and the like. Its small size, powerful thrusters, advanced camera and recording capabilities all contribute to its popularity.
